Welcome to the Vancouver Island 4-H Junior Camp

Objectives for the Campers

  1. To provide your child with an opportunity to be part of a friendship team and community. This will provide him/her with fun, a larger sense of community, new friends, an understanding of their environment and the effect of having trained positive peers as facilitators.
  2. By the end of the weekend program, we hope to have given your child an opportunity to practice making personal choices, interact with peers and Facilitators, feel like a team member, and increase self-esteem. All in all, a great personal empowerment experience.
  3. To offer more Regional Program opportunities for 9-12 year old 4-H members.

Objectives for the Facilitators

The objective of the Camp for the Facilitators is to provide; fun, communication and leadership training, increasing self-worth and social connections. The facilitators are vital in the planning and implementation of this Junior Camp.

During the pre-camp training program, Vancouver Island Junior Camp Coordinators support the facilitators through one on one and group initiatives.

The pre-camp is designed to provide; fun, skill development, team building, socializing, program creation and orientation for the facilitators. The camp itself is where facilitators can apply, expand and develop skills. The facilitators will also increase their personal confidence and have a fun weekend with a group of younger campers who look up to them as positive mentors.

In return, the younger Campers will provide the facilitators with growth through real life reactions and positive feedback.

All in all, this is a great personal empowerment camp and pre-camp where 4-H members learn to do by doing, benefiting both campers and facilitators.
